Welcome to the Puritan Society
The Puritan Society is devoted to promoting Puritan ideals in morality, honesty, education and economic justice. Membership is open to descendents of those Puritan ancestors who came to America prior to 1700.
The Puritans believed in the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman. The original Puritans ministers and elders who settled in New England during the 1630's were educated primarily at Cambridge University and founded Harvard College. They also believed in funding the common good by raising taxes based on the ability to pay. At that time, the ability to pay was based on wealth.
