1. MOSHE1 MUSSINA was born Unknown, and died Unknown in Great Poland. He married EMILY LYONS Unknown. She was born Unknown in England, and died Abt. 1802 in Great Poland1.
Notes for MOSHE MUSSINA:
Birthplace also spelled Krolishi, Kratshirn or Krotershine, Poland. There is a suggestion that this may be the present Krotoszyn, a medium sized county seat and trading centre as well as an important army base with large barracks in the outskirts of the town, not far from Poznan. Poznan was the largest and growing city of Great Poland and was under German rule with Krotoszyn for about two hundred years. The name Mussina may be derived from present day Muszyna which is a most beautiful health resort in the Carpathian Mountains not far from the border of Czechoslovakia and in the Krakow province. Muszyna was under Austrian rule for about two hundred years. (from a letter dated Nov. 24 1967 from Joseph Szczepkowski, Superintendent of the Methodist Church in Poland, to M. V. Mussina, original of letter in possession of Carolyn Mussina Seaman, Kinderhook, NY)
Family tradition reports that he was a rabbi who married an English gentile. That the sons came to America already speaking English is the basis, according to a letter in the possession of Carolyn Mussina Seaman from someone in Hamburg, Germany, to Lyons Mussina that if he knew English as well as Lyons Mussina knew it before coming to America, he, the writer, would also be in America and doing as well as he had heard Mr. Mussina was doing.
Notes for EMILY LYONS:
The fact that she was apparently born in England provides some basis for the impression that her sons came to America already speaking English.
